A rainy and lovely wedding at Glen Echo Gardens in Bellingham WA
Kara and Calum tied the knot this summer in Bellingham, at the marvelous Glen Echo Gardens. She, a Tennessee girl with that endearing drawl; and he, a Scottish gentleman with an amazing Scottish accent! I found myself talking so awkward and silly, like I’d invented some kind of deep south / Viking accent. Their story was like Braveheart meets Sweet Home Alabama. And seriously – she totally reminded me of Reese Witherspoon too.
Their beautiful wedding started at the home of the bride’s sister. Airport shuttles seemed to arrive every quarter hour. So many folks traveled from so many places, it was so wonderful.
The gardens were a hidden gem I’d never before seen. Rugged four wheeler style golf carts took us down the windy switchbacks across wooden bridges and different native forests to the ceremony location. I’ve never seen a garden quite like this… incredible.
As rain approached we moved the ceremony into a tent, but otherwise we had beautiful skies and lovely company.
The knot binding ceremony was so beautiful, the thoughtful details that went into making their guests feel at home, and the endearing (and roast-like) toasts were entertaining and heartwarming.
I loved being a part of their union, and wish them both a lifetime of happiness! They’re moving to New Zealand… why not???
I had a wonderful time working with the very talented Ardita Kola on this adventure.
